By accessing and using Ember ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

2. Description of Service

Ember is a faith-based community platform that provides daily devotionals, Bible study resources, prayer community features, and AI-powered spiritual guidance. Our mission is to help believers grow in their relationship with God and connect with fellow Christians in meaningful ways.

3. User Account

To access certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your device. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password.

4. Community Guidelines

Ember is a Christian community built on love, respect, and mutual support. Users are expected to:

  • Treat all community members with respect and kindness
  • Share content that is encouraging and edifying
  • Respect different denominational perspectives within Christianity
  • Avoid sharing content that is offensive, inappropriate, or contrary to Christian values
  • Report any concerning behavior to our moderation team

5. Em AI Chat Feature

"Em" is Ember's AI-powered faith companion, designed exclusively for spiritual guidance, Biblical interpretation, and faith-based encouragement. Em is available to Pro members and operates with the following important limitations:

CRITICAL SAFETY INFORMATION

Em is NOT:

  • A licensed therapist, counselor, or mental health professional
  • A medical doctor or healthcare provider
  • A crisis intervention specialist
  • Qualified to diagnose or treat mental health conditions
  • A replacement for professional pastoral care or counseling

EMERGENCY RESOURCES: If you experience thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or harming others:

  • Call 988 - National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (24/7)
  • Text "HOME" to 741741 - Crisis Text Line (24/7)
  • Call 911 - For immediate emergencies
  • Visit your nearest emergency room

Scope of Service: Em provides Biblical encouragement, Scripture interpretation, prayer support, and faith-based perspectives. All guidance is intended to supplement, not replace, personal Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with your local church community.

Professional Referrals Required: For issues involving depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, eating disorders, relationship problems, family conflicts, or any mental health concerns, users must seek help from qualified licensed professionals. Call 211 for local mental health resources.

User Responsibility: By using Em, you acknowledge understanding these limitations and agree to seek appropriate professional care when needed. You understand that spiritual guidance and professional mental health care serve different but complementary purposes in your overall well-being.

6. Content and Safety Monitoring

To ensure user safety, Ember employs automated systems to monitor conversations with Em for concerning content that may indicate mental health crises or emergencies. When such content is detected, Em will immediately provide crisis intervention resources and encourage professional help. This monitoring serves to protect users and does not constitute professional mental health assessment or treatment.

7. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which also governs your use of the Service, to understand our practices regarding the collection and use of your personal information. Conversations with Em are processed to provide responses and monitor for safety concerns but are not stored permanently or used for training purposes without explicit consent.

8. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to solicit others to perform unlawful acts. This includes but is not limited to harassment, sharing inappropriate content, spamming, or violating any applicable laws or regulations. Users are specifically prohibited from attempting to use Em for medical advice, professional counseling, or crisis intervention.

9. Limitation of Liability

Ember and its operators will not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from the use of this service, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, and consequential damages.

Specific Disclaimer for Em AI Feature: By using Em, you acknowledge that this AI service is provided for spiritual guidance only and agree that Ember, its operators, and technology providers bear no responsibility for decisions made based on Em's guidance. Users assume full responsibility for seeking appropriate professional help for mental health, medical, or crisis situations.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the Service. Your continued use of the Service after any changes indicates your acceptance of the new terms.
